How to upgrade from a CVX

Recommended Posts

Hey all I have some questions about my sound system and I'm not sure what to put this topic under so feel free to move it for me. But I am looking to upgrade my sound system from what I have now but am not sure where to start.

I have a regular cab F150 with a single 12" CVX behind the seat in a custom ported box. It is being run from a Hifonics HFI1000D amplifier at 1 ohm and gets pretty loud. For the mids and highs I have a pair of Hifonics 5.25" components running off of a Rockford Fosgate P300.2. The mids and highs sound good to me and I don't have a problem with them partly because I got an amazing deal on them. But lately I have been listening to all different kids of music and the bass SQ leaves some to be desired. Also when running it hard it seems to be extremely loud for the first song or two but then quiets down and I can't seem to get the volume out of it playing from my ipod for the sub amp even with the gain all the way up. I would guess this is because the amp is getting warm but I'm not exactly sure. This is the first system that I have had and I do all of the installation myself but I would like some feedback on what to upgrade. I want better SQ and would like to keep at least the same SPL or a little more. I can't spend more then like $300-400 dollars on it right now. Sorry for the long post just tryin not to leave anything out. Thanks everybody, Josh

I'd take an SA over almost any sub (especially the 600rms-1500rms class) haha great sound quality, very underrated, and just a loud little bad ass sub.
