sundownz
Thermal test completed @ 60 Hz sine wave : TIME // CLAMPED WATTS At ~400 the heat wasn't building up any faster than it could be dealt with as demonstrated by the minimal drop in power over time once it hit operating temp. So I feel the 400 RMS rating is well deserved -- it could literally handle that "all day" so to speak. Then we hit it with more power after the typical 5 minute test as we normally do... it took over 2 minutes at 500-700 after that to kill it. Conclusion... thermal capacity is a non-issue on this design @ 400 RMS. I have a big, long, boring video I may upload for the test as well. sundownz
Kicker owns all of their own frame toolings -- kinda similar, though. sundownz
I am super pleased with the thermal results... you'll find many woofers actually will fail within the 5-minute window without even go over rating -- it's a very difficult test. bdog
Would you say this is on par with the DD 1500 series ? Quote REP
Supercharged DCs
Looks comparable to the DD 1000 series. Quote Bassless once again. Can't seem to keep a system for more than a few weeks Saving for a '06 Nissan 350z, look for build around June 2012.
sundownz
Doing the best I can to reverse calculate the BL on the 1500 series (had to guess on the DCR as it's not listed) it seems the most comparable to these; assuming the same DCR the BL is darn near dead on even with these -- the 1000 has a weaker motor and MUCH higher Qts. I am not up on the coil spec of the 1500 series (winding length) but I don't imagine it would take much more if any more juice than these thermally as these have one of the highest I've seen out of a 2" coil yet; even from longer wind lengths. Sound-wise the DD will vary tremendously as DD drivers usually do as a result of the non-linear performance of their spider pack (which also happens to be beneficial for SPL at higher frequencies) -- it creates a "punchy" sound which many people enjoy (also described as "warm").
