So, I've been a car audio enthusiast for about a year now, and have done several installs, but I am now in a bit of a pickle. I have recently purchased my very first pair of brand new woofers. Now, I went mainstream with my buy, but only because I got a good price for them. I bought two brand new Kicker 07' CVR 12's. Now, I bought some crappy Hitron 1400.2 amp off my friend for 25 bucks, and when hooked up to my CVR's, they sound OK, but I know they can take more and sound a lot better. They're in a ported box and have about 1.65 cubes per sub, (I know, I know, they need a little more, but hey, box was a good deal too.) And I'm now looking at amps to buy. I have minimal funds, and have pretty much narrowed it down to 2 amps. A Hifonics HFi 1000.1d, which runs 1000 watts at 1 ohm, (currently each sub is at a 2 ohm load), or a Quantum AQ 2000.D. I can get both amps for about the same price. The Hifonics is 150, and the Quantum is 165. The Quantum will push 1000 watts at 2 ohms. Help me choose please ! Or give me some suggestions for better amps in the 150-190 range. Thank youuu ! (:

I'm almost sure that neither of the Amos you mentioned do rated. You say you are wired to 2ohms right now which would mean that you have two dvc 2 ohms subwoofers. If that is that case you need to look for an amp that produces about 800-1000 watts at TWO ohms. Your subs (if dvc 2's) cannot present a 1ohm load so that power at 1ohm is typically cut in half at 2.

But I'll name a few Amps that do power at 2 ohms. Basically any kicker 1000watt monoblock, or alpine 1000, jl 1000/1, RF 1000 monoblocks. I actually saw 2 cvr's on a kenwood kac9105 and they sounded great, and that 9105 can be found pretty cheap on eBay. Basically all these amps are out of the given price range, but good deals can be found on them used.

so far...

All those amps are waaaay out of my price range. And actually I have two dual 4 ohm voicecoils, wired down to 2 each. If I wired one of the subs to the other, and the 2nd one to the amp, that'd give me a 1 ohm load right ?

thats correct it would give you a 1 ohm load if you wired it the right way....other wise a 4 ohm load

i think there real i was looking through that guys stuff he sells and it looks like he finds stuff at auctions and just sells it

Yea, it looks like someone got the mids about a month ago....shit. If I had a whole Hertz front stage my ears would jizz all over my cheeks.
