Alpine 9886 and DD1

Recommended Posts

So when i hook my RCAs to from the head unit to the DD1 i get no distortion on my headunit maxed out on the 1k and 40hz -0DB track

it has a 4v preout on this series. should i run it to 35 or..? like maybe 32? i run it to 25 now..but my gain is maxed on the sub amp and i can turn it up to 29-30 with out distortion on a -5db track. so i think i have more room to play with. with USB 25seems kinda max on my vocals but on my AUX i can usally run about 32 and get a lot more out.. :P any help be cool thanks!

i just found in another post

"Alpine CDA-9886 Clip free up to 24" Some headunits are different, despite the fact that they are the same exact model number and everything

so his might and mine wont? also i have the internal amp "off" is that ok when checking for clipping?

yeah there was a thread on here talking about where head units clip at (was actually just looking for the thread now lol) and the 9886 is mentioned in there several times. plenty of people in there complaining about it not being too good. ive got the 9886 and the dd1, and i tested mine on the 0 db tracks, and was clean all the way up to 35 (maxed out) with and without the "loud" setting. this also includes turning the bass or treble up to 7. but on the subwoofer boost, i can only go up to 2 before i start to distort on the dd-1.

Max that thing out and play also with the "subwoofer setting" , if you get that thing to +15 it´s when you are seeing the full voltage from that HU without almost ANY distortion :)
