How to learn? Um...read, research, and read some more?

I always advise people starting out who have serious question to literally sit down and read EVERYTHING here

pretty much. we give you virtually the same freaking info in every single thread you make but the info never sticks to your brain and you ask again. hence why we're acting like this.

edit: ill say what everyone else has said a thousand times over. unless you're spending over like $100 a woofer, pretty much everything under that price range is almost exactly the friggin same. just pick one and be done with it.

This thread is nothin like any of the others. I had no intention on changing my mind until I thought the MBs were 800 rms each and $100 for a pair. That was the only reason... I simply asked in the beginning a question and the answer was crutchfield which I'm familar with just don't use often.. So thank you

I'm gonna be real nice and help you with a few things here.

Your subwoofer is rated at a certain ohm load by the manufacturer at its "rest" position (or sometimes at the Fs point). This is the number you see advertised as 0.7/1/1.3/2/3/4/6/8 ohms. You match this number to your preferred amplifier (some math required for multiple coils/subwoofers). The amplifier is the part that must be stable at this number. The subwoofer is literally a chunk of metal being moved around by a magnetic field and has no care about what happens to it, they dont have feelings. Your amp cares about what the chunk of metal in the magnetic field is doing as that chunck of metal in the magnetic field produces a reactive electrical signal (ie: ohm load) that the amplifier will see and must be stable at. This number is not always the same as what the subwoofer was rated at from the factory, but that number from the factory is a good guide. You just have to hope you chose an amp that wasnt a chunk of crap and can work good enough with it..

I really do think there should be a "basics of audio" thing somewhere here as not everyone is smart or informed enough to look up the basic information for themselves.. all the time..
