reggtoby
some one was asking me about my dc audio lvl 3 today. In the midst of all of what was going on he asked how it was wired at. its a 2ohm sub, Ive got it at 1ohm 1000w. he then proceeded to ask why don't i wire it with 750w to each coil (my amp is 750w @ 2ohm). i never even have thought about having any dvc sub wired like that. or the fact of if it would even work and be safe. I figured i would ask someone that had a little more experience.

MrSkippyJ
because you can't. if you have a 2 ohm sub wired to 1 ohm, that means it has D2 voice coils. Can't make D2 be 2 ohms on an amp! Guest
i assume there are two sets of speaker terminals on the amp. something like + - - +. if its a monoblock, it doesnt matter if you use only one set of + and - or both sets. the end result will be exactly the same. the woofer will still be wired to 1 ohm. the extra set of terminals is just to help ease wiring for multiple woofers. michigancapri92
bridged gives the the power off both channels so 750x2 = 1500x1 bridged and you only use one signal to the subs instead of 2 which would not be 100% in sync with one another causing problems ... thats my take on it could be wrong tho :-/ Quote Teamcapri.comThe TeamCapri 1992 Mercury Capri XR22012 FORD EDGE SQ BUILDOld build logMy FeedBack1992 Mercury capri XR2 Hyper LED
HatersGonnaHate
Don't fuck with your current setup. If it works for you, keep it that way. Since you're asking for advice, I'm just keeping it real lol. Read and read and read about wiring options and all that good stuff and get a better understanding of your setup and possible further setups man. reggtoby
now see i was never going to do this. I spent to much time figuring out what to get on this set up to just go changing things now. it being 750w on both channel, i figured would put it at 1500w. the amp i have is a hifonics HFi 1000.1D it is capable of 1ohm. im not as dumb as this makes me out to be, a brain fart occurred when i was asked this, and had to make sure i was thinking the right way. thanks for clarifying what i was thinking. had to sit back and listen to someone else for a bit Edited November 22, 2011 by reggtoby
