audiofanaticz Posted April 5, 2018 Report Share Posted April 5, 2018 Method is irrelevant, 1% distortion which the DD-1 detects will happen long before an amplifier goes into a square wave clip. Hence the difference in wattage's when amps are tested on the AD-1 in Certified mode which stops the test at 1% THD and UnCertified mode that stops the test at clipping. Not to mention the DD-1 has been proven against an osciliscope time and time again, an oscilloscope cant measure THD, it just shows a waveform. 2 different things and you are comparing apples to oranges. Most monoblock amplifiers will make an audible whine when you push them in to clipping without any speakers connected to them, but again this dont happen until your long past 1% THD. The best part is this guy appears to be an SPL Labs Distributor in the UK talking bad about the DD-1 but yet SPL Labs pays to advertise on this site...................
