why would you have less power strapped? i thought strapped amps got same power but at higher ohm load?

Honestly I'm not sure. I'm assuming higher ohm load would create less just like on a non strapped set up

you can keep impedence rise down a little by not strapping.

Instead of having one load presented you will split it among multipkes. Its not a science though but it can work that way.
