How can I get better CD quality!

Recommended Posts

There is always a considerable difference in quality when comparing actual authentic cd's and burnt cd's off of my computer. I have it set on the highest quality for my burner but it still isn't great. Am I forever stuck with crappy cd's. (I dont steal music btw..I buy my cd's but I do download the occasional FREE mixtape)..lol Just wanted to clarify :good:

It's due to compression of the files, only way around it really is burning in a losslesss file format

WAV instead of mp3 when ripping CD's to get the best possible format to listen to.

Thank you Skullz...I'm trying this right now :drinks:

dont rip with MP3. i dont remember which file format retains the best quality, i think its WAV or FLAC, but dont quote me.

Both are lossless.

I use FLAC though because the files are a tad smaller

get a good ear

most songs don't "sound good" because of how it was made/recorded, not the quality/kbps. aside from frequencies above say, 8000hz, you shouldn't be able to tell the difference from 320kbps to cd quality. most cant tell 256kbps from cd quality. if the song doesn't have a ton of data it doesn't benefit to have more information per second. now an orchestra playing Schoenberg could definitely benefit from the highest quality, but you arent trying to drown out the violin with a bass drum like we drown out lyrics from rap

If you really want better quality, the best thing to do is run a 3.5mm cable from a netbook to the aux in on a HU, and use the HU as a preamp, then you'd be able to play whatever quality you want, aac, wma, mp3, flac, so on and so forth. Putting flac files on CDs is a little silly, due to the size. If you want better quality without alot of money, download Audacity, and learn how to remaster them.

Getting bass into the cabin of a W124 mercedes is impossible.

Current setup:

Temp 1999 panasonic HU

rockford 300.2 for fronts

rockford 200.2 for rears

rockford 400.1 for sub

Leaning towards a 8" in an exponential horn

DAMN YOU GERMANS AND YOUR 5" SPEAKERS!
