My assumption would be to get the one you believe best suited. If it doesn't perform the way you want/ frys the coil, you could always recone and sell for almost what u have in it and buy the next on your list..

And if you try the neos I'd love to see it cuz I've never heard of one in a good BP on a ton of power... And if they don't work, you coul sell them easily where as they are a little bit rare...

I think that if your wanting to play with 1 18 and have that kind of power, your going to want a 4 inch coil driver.

Two of the drivers from one company are are hard to find at times and people sell the motors alone for more than the other subs you mentioned cost. I also believe 1 is only a 3inch coil, while the other one can not be built by the company due to the patents on the baskets. Which can really make things to be a pita if you go that route.

As for the box, you are going to be stuck building it in the trunk, if you use your back seats your going to want to port thru the rear deck. Otherwise that rearseat will severly screw you over no matter what type of woofer and power you use.

Mlstrass knows a bit about the product he runs, he would be a wise person to listen to.

As for running 1 amp daily @ .5 and 2 amps for comps strapped at 2ohm (1ohm per amp). You will not see to much more power from the pair since your going to have a Higher rise. You would possibly see a .2-.6db gain from 1 amp to 2 amps if you have the electrical to support that additional draw.

i was thnking 4 inch coil too espically if im running one sub, thats why the neo isnt the best options for the price cuz it would be the same as 3 12s and they would have more coil

thats a good point about the amps strapped, but either way the coils are a small peics of the puzzle, and i could always abuse it and blow it so i can recone to wire to 1 ohms strapped to 1 sub, i mean the neo coil is the same as the xl! so heat would be an issue, but obviously no sub is made to handle 10k all day! i know this, its something im gonna have to deal with! so ill have a recone on the bench ready to go

the neo is not a 4 inch coil like the 6 which is a huge advantage imo with that power, but ive heard its ment to be ported only, as a masssive groundpounding sub, kinda like the smd

i have no problem building the 6 myself ive done many recones, and could probably do a smd without ever seeing one im pretty handy

pricing the lvl 6 and neo would be very close, the basket is the big ? for the lvl 6 cuz i really would want that sexy dc lvl 6 basket, but i could deal with a painted ti basket

i would listen to mstrass but hes really given me little info besides 6th order works and somone else stated he has done a 160.... but hes not exactly helping my topic move forward lol

SMD works in a 4th order bandpass, only problem is that you probably can't fit it because it's too high.

Look for subs with a qts above 0.40(between .35 and .40 works too but not as good). example:

The FI SP4 will work very well in a 4th order bandpass. (qts of .48)

if a manufacturer recommends sealed and ported, it works in a 4th order BP.

I think your best option would be a SP4 on only 1 5k. Or 2 12's.

Learned something new today! I've been looking at two SP4 18s in a ported wall in the future...might have to consider doing 2 15s in a 4th order bp now. Sorry I can't help you out either OP, but at least I understand this wasn't a vs thread even after reading the entire thing

Cortez, a single 5k would be perfect daily on a lvl 6. Two for comps should work for burps, but I wouldn't suggest trying to play music full tilt on two amps.

Corona Jeff has a lvl 6 12 in a 4th, so you may want to PM him and get some direct feedback. Before I built my box, he suggested I do a ported box and not the 4th order. Hit him up.
