lifted_silverado
I had 3 15s in a 9 cube sealed box at one time in an extended cab chevy doin 46s. It can be done but you have to do alot of testing to get it right Everythings in the attic or garage since the truck was sold last year. New build should be coming soon in a dodge cummins
Noobtastic14
You can have a great sealed GP car, but you have to have enough cone area to compensate for the loss in peak port output. A sealed wall with a crap ton of cone will get loud, play low, and retain a great bit of SQ. But, a sealed wall will not have that peak output spike that a ported box offers. -Drew I am a United States Military Arts and Crafts Professional. SteveND
love the sound of a well setup sealed system, I don't care for the boominess of a ported box. TeamHT
Boominess could be a myriad of things, including a crappy design or a shit built ported enclosure. Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
Guest
love the sound of a well setup sealed system, I don't care for the boominess of a ported box. i think its fucking hilarious how when people buy a box at best buy and end up having poor performance, and then they think that thats how all sealed/ported/bandpass boxes are. Guest
a properly designed ported box will out perform a sealed box any day every day.
Captain Stupid
And it isn't just the box either. The type of sub you are using has a LOT to do with perceived "boominess". That was really hammered home for me this weekend when I borrowed some subs from a friend and put them in my box. While both my subs and his subs both sounded great on low bass rap songs in my box, when it came to higher bass songs with snappier bass, like heavy metal, there was no comparison between the two. Both sets of subs have somewhat similar characteristics, specs, power handling, etc. Same exact box, same exact port, and one set sounds great, the other a bit "boomy". 2006 Cadillac Escalade 2/3 drop on 28" wheels Two RE SX 18" subs RF T2500-1bdCP amp, 3531watts on birthsheet Custom carbon fiber sub box EVERYTHING else is stock, for now 149.4 @ 37hz, Termlab, dash, open window on two AQ3 18s all stock electrical, wired to .25 ohm on a RF T2500 148.8 @ 36hz, Termlab, dash, open window on one AQ3 18 all stock electrical, wired to .5 ohm on a RF T2500 147.8 @ 38hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on two RE SX 18s 146.4 @ 36hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on one RE SX 18 Link to my hack-built, stupid, carbon fiber wasting project.... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/149946-carbon-fiber-box-update-1494db-37hz-on-tl/ http://gifsoup.com/NDM3MTc1MQ
