Just a couple simple questions. To start off with, would a 15 on the same amount of power and every other factor the same be just as loud as a 12 on the same amount of power, or louder because of more cone area?

Following up, how ineffective would a 15 pointed up in a trunk car with the port firing forward be in regards to just doing a single 12 firing forward (port firing forward too). The 12 will be sealed off if I go that route. I also won't be doing sound deadener anywhere so that's why I was still considering the 12, but then if the 15 would theoretically be louder because of more cone area then...

I realize there are too many real life factors that come into play to KNOW which would be better, so that's why I just want to know what you'd do.

My 12 rattles the shit of my trunk.Fire your ports the same way as your sub towards the trunk from what i heard. And im almost sure in the right box the 15 Will be louder (SPL) An the 15 does have more cone area. Then its exact 12

It depends a lot on the type of vehicle and the kind and size of the box. For example my loudest setup (SPL) is a single 12" pointing up with an external aero port facing out the the drivers side of the box, pushed all the way to the back of trunk in my Ford Focus. Hitting a 151db right now.

I would say the 15 but only if you can get the box made to proper specs. If you cant squeeze enough air space for a box for a 15, then id say go for the 12.. jmo.

Bigger subs isn't always better. A large amount of what would be louder has to do with the design of the box.

Designing, building, and shipping boxes. Yahoo IM - kingsuv00If the listening level is too loud, please inform the driver, so he can promptly pull over, and let you out.

not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it. :)

From the research I've done about trunks, you will lose output firing a 15 upward into the trunk lid. Voted for the 12.

Thanks for the input everybody! Pretty sure I'll be going with the single 12. I will be doing somewhere around 2.5-2.75 net cubic feet tuned around 32 or 33 Hz with 16-17 sq inches of port per cube. I do have enough space for the 15 (would just have to be firing up because max height is 14.5), just not enough for 2 12s with the same amount of air as I just said. Really appreciate the positive input!
