Amart88 Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 Was sitting here browsing photos of my Ecotec 2.2L engine in my 2006 pontiac pursuit. I was always looking for ways to mount a second alternator in that small engine compartment. Then it hit me. The AC compressor is right below the factory alt. Would I be able to remove that thing to put in a second alt with a modified bracket? Just a thought. I already have a 270A replacing the factory one. My 2005 s10 blazer build. 4 zcon 18's walled.

I would do it myself but I have no tools or knowledge to do so ... Theres probably alot of bassheads out there with these cars that look for the same thing. Yea but I live in Canada so mechmans out of the question :( and the best alternator guy in my area told me that a 270a Alt for my car was impossible for something thats small. On a side note. If I get a second alt, does it hurt to mix brands?. Mine is an Ohio generator 270a right now and I was looking at mechman 270a or 320a for the second one. or should i just stay with the same brand? As it is with bass alone i will be running 7000+ watts. and i plan on doing some mids/highs in the near future so a second alt would make my day. My 2005 s10 blazer build. 4 zcon 18's walled.
img Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 I don't have the same engine nor same car by any means but I have managed to get a second alt fitted in place of my ac pump without too many issues. It is very possible as long as you have a capable fabricator on your side, as the brackets will probably need adjusting a few times before being perfect. The only issue I can foresee with the engine pictured above is a slight lack of contact with the alt pulley and belt if you put it in place of the ac pump.
