SnowDrifter
Metal will resonate. It would be very rigid but it may not be easy to kill the resonation This^^ the box will probably ring every time the subs move. And how thick is the steel plate? Couple sheets of sound deadener? Jessica
Could just throw a sheet of 1/4 ply on the metal and glue it down good. Might work. STEvil
Internal sheet braces would help. basically some flat iron on edge welded to the sheet in X pattern... along with threaded rod. It can be done in other words, but you wont have any weight savings over mdf/plywood and the bracing is going to hurt internal airflow against the sides of the box. I think you'd have better luck making a carbon fiber box. Quote MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..." Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through. Hammerdown... 1% no links to outside websites, business related FB/YT pages allowed.
