brent379
Ok I kno alot of people including myself wire the subs at 1 ohm for less resistance which equals more power...is it a good thing to always run at 1 ohm or is it better to run the same amount of power at 2 ohms...does 2 ohms give u a cleaner sound? This maybe a noob question but I wanna know the pros/cons of running at 1 ohm rather then 2 ohm...
HatersGonnaHate
Same amount of power on 2 ohms.... It is less strain on your electrical setup. And not all amps are 1 ohm stable, so if you run them at 1 ohm, they have a tendency to get hot, and increases the chances of making some magic smoke. I on the other hand don't give a fuck and I run mine at .5 ohm. Bitches love .5 ohms Quote My name is AdamThis is my Civic Build.7" Samsung Tab 2Kenwood KDC-X896Clarion EQS746Sundown X-15DC 3.5k @2ohmHatersGonnaHate's 02 Civic UBLELD Bypass for Honda Civic/Accord/FitDon's Jeep Grand Cherokee Rebuild N8ball2013 - i think you'd stick your dick in a blender if it told you it was 40 wtih two kids your age. lol srp365 - If posting were picking up bitches, I'd be going home single tonight looks like tony montana sneezed in your car. brent379
Lol it makes sense tho. So do u run urs at .5 ohm just for more power or does running ur ohm load that low give u a deeper fuller sound??
HatersGonnaHate
Running at .5 is dangerous for your amp, so I would recommend not doing that lol. But the less resistance you have, the more power you get out of the amp. But the more power that it puts out, the more heat it creates... Too much heat = fried amp internals. That's why you see amp ratings like this 1600 watt amp 4 ohm - 800 watts 2 ohm - 1200 watts 1 ohm - 1600 watts Quote My name is AdamThis is my Civic Build.7" Samsung Tab 2Kenwood KDC-X896Clarion EQS746Sundown X-15DC 3.5k @2ohmHatersGonnaHate's 02 Civic UBLELD Bypass for Honda Civic/Accord/FitDon's Jeep Grand Cherokee Rebuild N8ball2013 - i think you'd stick your dick in a blender if it told you it was 40 wtih two kids your age. lol srp365 - If posting were picking up bitches, I'd be going home single tonight looks like tony montana sneezed in your car. I doubt a significantly less amount of strain, but a less amount of strain nonetheless. ALPINE408
To ohms will sound cleaner most of the time and most of the time you get less thd (total hermonic distortion) less current draw (less strain part) and less heat (heat is a killer to all things car related from the motor to your voice coil and amp) BUT not all amps are created = some are drity shitty no matter what If I could get the power I wanted I would run at 8 ohms but you get like no power at 8 ohms Quote Have you ever had your woofers blown? brent379
Ok so is it better to buy one amp that will push the power u want at 2ohm or is it better to strap 2 amps??
HatersGonnaHate
Safer to find an amp that will push the power you need at 2 ohms. TeamHT
And I disagree with the notion that running at 1 ohm gets hotter than getting the same power at 2 ohms. I mean, basic laws state lower resistance = more heat, but in the traditional sense of the word, class d amplification technology doesn't get hot. And if it is, then something is wrong Edited May 4, 2012 by TeamHT Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
