meade916
Lookin Good Bossman. Still makes me laugh though that with all the tools and shit that you have in the shop, you still havent bought a good drill press yet lol i thought about it but i didn't feel like going and buying it....plus, i have never tapped holes with a drill press, always by hand. Can it even be done on a drill press? I know you can do the holes, duhhh but what about tapping the threads? No, you want to do those by hand always. You have a feel for it by hand...but machine you cant! too easy to mess the threads up wheewww.....cool. I thought i was being a sissy. haha.....good to know! Can it even be done on a drill press? I know you can do the holes, duhhh but what about tapping the threads? Ive got a 3/8 socket adapter for my impact driver that fits the end of my tap holder perfectly. The handle is removable so you can do it by hand or with a ratchet. I just make sure to use plenty of cutting oil so that it doesent heat up and snap. Just run it and and reverse out. I am 95% sure this is the set that I have. The piece in the top right is really the only piece you need from the set. The taps are decent, but not great. I bought a nice set of taps from harbor freight. Once I figured this out, tapping became so much faster and easier. I used to spend hours tapping by hand and having to pray I didnt break the tap off. http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-25ecodZ5yc1v/R-202214132/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=tap+set&storeId=10051

Me and my dad got in a huge arguement over this with that F-150..he wanted to use the impact. I was tapping into steel so that a bit harder than aluminum. I know you can do the holes, duhhh but what about tapping the threads? yes, you can tap holes with a drill press. we have 2 drill presses where i work that are set up for tapping. in some of the thinner materials i can tap over 1,000 holes an hour. this is what you would need... http://www1.mscdirect.com/eCommerce/NavigationServlet/Tool-Holding/Tapping-Heads-Accessories/Standard-Tapping-Heads/_/N-77dr7?cm_re=Category-_-BodyLink-_-Standard+Tapping+Heads Quote Owner of BigAss Ports

Aluminum is soft so it wasn't really that difficult. Just time consuming with that many also, how thin is the metal that you can tap 1000 holes in an hour? that's 17 per minute. If you could actually do that many per hour, i would give you a raise for sure (if i was the boss). That number is dogging on a CNC machine so you must be superman LOL Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! Jessica
Only time I ever used a drill with a tap was actually putting a die in a vice and using the drill to run bolts through the tap just to clean the threads up. You can clean a lot of bolts quickly that way. Quote Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. My super random youtube channel and terrible camera work.
