There's also the possibility to use 14V batts but you would also have to get a higher charging voltage. EdgarG0721 Posted May 30, 2012 Report Posted May 30, 2012 Why would u recommend a person 14 volt battery's when he clearly doesn't have knowledge about electrical. If u wanna charge high 14 I would reccomend a high output alternator to charge at 14.8

OP, 2 D3400 would provide more amperage than 1 D3100 in your example and help keep your votage steadier. but lesser batts than the 3400s may not "equal" up to 1 D3100. I dont know where that point is. Call up xs power and see or maybe some other experienced members can chime in.
