SSD would definitely help, even if only your OS is on it and you have another HD for everything else. Also can you get more RAM possibly? Gonna have to do some of the things soon, this laptop I got back in September 2009 I believe and the hard drive was replaced due to the one from the factory (Dell computer) failing last year.
