Sundown SA-12's and Skar VVX 12's D4 TERMLAB SCORES and review

Recommended Posts

Recently got my hands on some SA-12's after running Skar vvx 12's in my tc.

Both are D4's wired to 1 ohm on a skar 1500.1 tuned DD-1 at 0db's box is 4.4 cubes net tuned low 27hz. Car peaks at 35ish hz

Heres my initial results Termlab results soon. Totally unbias review of both, I honestly like both companies the same.

Sundowns

The Skars

  • love the lows and feel powerful on comfortably numb bass version
  • You can really feel the bass moving the air
  • Look sexy as hell w/o a dustcap and I got the new versions w/o the vvx 12 written on the bottom
  • Print of the logo is cleaner
  • Triple stacked magnets with a shiny bottom only one vent
  • Sexy basket

The Sundown feel more powerful and there is more flex on my car. They actually broke my brace loose in my box, so I'll be fiberglassing it back into place.

  • Like the lows as well put sounds a little higher on comfortably numb bass version (not necessarity a bad thing)
  • Sounds cleaner and you can hear the bass more than the skar's
  • Very powerful as I said it broke my brace
  • Surround seems a little thicker, but both are very strong
  • Double stacked magnets 5 vents out the back of the magnets only in black
  • Simple 4 spoke basket

Overall in my car the Sundowns sound better and I think they are louder, I'm in finals week right now so next week I will update this with termlab scores of both.

UPDATE

Scores were on the windshield sealed except my sunroof was cracked open "moon roof" setting.

Someone is going to hate me for this, but...I've always viewed Skar as like a generic Sundown. Like Coca Cola versus supermarket brand. Very similar ingredients, but you can tell which one is Coke.

I think what I'm seeing from the OP will change that though...
