jbiddle.com
So my buddy an just got SSA Zcon 18" dual 2 ohm sub today and were trying to figure out the amp to get to power it. he already knows he wants crescendo but the question is do we match the subs rms rating with the BC2000.1 or do we go all out and get the bc3500.1 can the sub handle the 3800 watts or will we completely fry the sub.. were hoping we can get away with just setting the gain a little lower but what do you all think?? also do you guys have any advice for the best ported box design for that sub i cant fine any box specs. want it tuned to 30 hz maybe up to 33 hz but should we do slot port or multiple aero ports. and what shoud the net volume for the enclosure be? thanks for any help its all appreciated Edited June 7, 2012 by jbiddle.com Quote Head Unit -- Alpine CDA-9887 Mids and highs -- 2 Crescendo PWX-8's 4 Crescendo PWX-6's 4 Crescendo FT-1 Super tweeters Mids and Highs amps -- 2 Alpine V12 MRV-F545 Subs -- TBD Sub amp -- Crescendo Bass Cleff BC2000. Swordlordboy1234
Zcons are underrated in my opinion, but not half power under rated. Have fun popping that sub with the bc3500. Why not save up for a second zcon and then get the 3500 instead of trying to take short cuts and end up having just to re cone your first zcon and buy a second zcon so u don't over power it again. notorious97200
They have free box designs on their website. You can use the same box specs than the Xcon IIRC. The BC 2000 is enough, but if your electrical is good enough for a 3500 w amp, go for it ! Turn your gain carefully. But this sub can handle much more power than rated, at least for burps. If it's only for listening pleasure, your friend will love it with 2000 watts. Don't focus on watts, focus on an efficient box for this beast. notorious97200
A 5500 watts amp should be a great match with 2 Zcons. The 3500 would be better for 2 Xcons. ricksi30
The can take a ton of power, but they don't need it. I ran mine on 1500 for a while and it was loud. ChevyBoy95
i have seen 2 dc 5ks on zcon 18s and they take a while to get warm. Yes they are underrated. The vehicle was steve mead's camaro. Sonic
I would say go with the bc3500, amplifier head room is always good, but of course with responsible setting and use.

Agreed multiple people are running 2x rated power. Unless your buddy has a solid electrical system stick to the bc2k. ChevyBoy95
they seem very efficient but can also hang with the big boys.
