beaker
I have a delimma. I like my bass in the 135+ range, but I also dont want to add 200 pounds to the back of my bmw to get it loud. I was going to go with a 90% fiberglass box, but I want it to hit like my HT sub does, down below 20hz. if it doesnt get super loud, I dont mind, but I want it to hit low and clean. So here are my two options. I have an Boston Acoustic 15 Orrrr SA8.V2 Which would you pick? The 8 will handle more power, but I'm not sure about the response. I dont want to have to run over 300 watts to it either . . . Edited June 18, 2012 by beaker
SnowDrifter
Kind of a VS thread, but we'll roll with it IMHO tuning that low is pointless. It would hit low, yes, but you would lose all high end output. And if you are bent on tuning low, do the 15 for sure. Having a port long enough for an sa-8 to be tuned to 20hz would essentially be a t-line. Which brings me to my second point - try a t-line. It would be perfect for your application, if you have the space. What are your dimensions? C-Fizzy
Unless you're putting a 32" flat screen in your windshield, their is no point in tuning to 20hz. Quote under construction I hate People with crappy primered cars rolling on hubcaps that are louder then me. u hate c-fizzy?
john253a
If you only want to drop 300rms to the sub Dint wast you time with sa8v2 Get something else And if you don't want 200ponds in the trunk Go sealed 15 and be done with is or single ported 10 or 12 The bigger the box tue more it weights 2 sa8v2 will need close to 2cuft gross and a min of 300rms each If you get only 1 idd want 400-600rms other wise you won't even no it's there What you budget? Amp yes/no what is it? Size your willing to give you? And elect system? Most stock systems can handle 4-500 sub 4-500 speakers I use the kicker(yea I know) zx700.5 a lot on stock electrical systems and it works out well
bassface
I would go with the more efficent sub if you are only running 300 watts max to it.
White Lightning
Unless you're putting a 32" flat screen in your windshield, their is no point in tuning to 20hz. Why is this ??? I'm tuned at 22 htz and can hit a 140 db at 28 htz every time I roll next to a termlab ...
