Of all the people and posts in here, Knowing n8's work just from SMD, I'd listen to this post in a heart beat. I use AVG free personally, but I also don't surf into the unknown, open the unknown, etc etc. You're your own worse enemy about 90% of the time...prob just jinxed myself lol

Those running Mac's, you still can, but Apple was smart enough to use Unix based OS (little more secure) and the amount of users of mac vs windows users is HUGE. If tides turn, you will see Mac users running an anti-virus a lot more.

for those of you that think you cant get a virus on a mac you're wrong. they do exist they are just rare. There is no sense in coding somehting that would only be able to target 10 percent of the computers in the world compared to 80 percent.(the other 10 percent would be linux based) Its security by obscurity. basically no one gives a fuck about some little college kid who thinks hes cool on his macbook when there are countless fortune 500 companies that run windows hardware and have the ability to really fuck some stuff up if infected. Thats why there are so many more viruses aimed at windows.

Yupp I use ESET NOD32, I have a pirated version with a crack. *shhhh don't tell nobody*. The internet protection is a nice feature, I also use Malwarebytes which I run every month or so.

Meade just posted the other day he used Kaspersky to get rid of a virus, heard nothing but good things about that one too, I recommended it to a buddy who just bought a new laptop this past weekend.

Also, lol @ the Mac thing, saved me a bunch of typing!

I've always used but defender and I've never had an issue or slowing down of my computer.

ive been using bitdefender and malwarebytes at same time and had had no viruses in a while, i once got a bad virus but a free scan of eset nod 32 got rid of it

I agree. I will not go to the unknown and I got the conflictor virus from the aol home page and that took out disc drive c. I won't click on anything I'm not sure of.

Windows os are everywhere. A majority of the in dash video head units run Microsoft os. If your the biggest, you have the biggest target on your back.

lol. N8, I may hit you up once I start in to my major requirements for ISS. THere are a ton of classes to choose from and which direction I want to go is where I am unsure. I was thinking Cyber. Once I finish my Bach in this, then it's on to taking the CISSP and some other certs...booo. I hear that test is 6 hours lol
