Jordan Guess
never scored my 1508's but made the rear window of my ford ranger flex wonderfully, and that was only on 600watts rms each from my power acoustic amp (yuck)
cheebs
i'm not looking to get loud just to bump a lil. so will one 8 be enough? or will i need two? i want all the trunk space i can get.
Jordan Guess
define "bump a little." like being heard from across the street, or down a block?
john253a
if you have the space 2 is better then one, here are a few other reasons, easier to tune and build (a single 8 with a low tune has a monster long port) better port efficiency if using slot, more cone area = louder, flatter response curve
BobbyG2
Well, define low. If you were doing more of a home theater or Sound Quality build, I'd go with an TC Sounds Epic 8". If you just were going to listen to music, that doesn't really go below the 30's, I'd get an SA8v.2. I've heard the SA8 does sound really nice, but I can vouch that my TC Sounds Epic 10" is one of the cleanest sounding subs I've heard. Don't expect really loud or numbers, but it does sound amazing. If you were to get the epic 8, get two of them and a Rockford T-500 bdCP, put them in an 1.5cu.ft enclosure (after displacements), tuned to 28 Hz with 12-14in.cu.ft port area, or an .75-1cu.ft. sealed enclosure (after displacements) Edited July 31, 2012 by BobbyG2 Quote *New vehicle and system coming soon.*
2K XJ
Well...I may be biased...but I have 3 SA8 v2s in my Jeep and they get low running off of 2000 watts RMS. Great little subs IMO Quote 1999 Jeep Cherokee SportLifted on 31'sPopcorn Sounds AX6000.1 w/ AA 500.1 "THE F1X" board4 Obsidian Audio OA15's C pillar wall @ 29hz ^^^work in progress^^^
SlamminBeats
DD 2508 gets nasty low. tune it to mid 30s.
Mtnbikecrazy55
love my dd 1508, gets low and sounds good doing it for a single 8" sub. I think im at 1.3 cubes tuned to 34 if i recall correctly. 4" Aero port. I looked around to see what the subs seemed to like best, and Ray helped me hammer out the final specifications. Sounds real good on 500 watts. Quote I hate long signatures.... ...what the fuck is wrong wiht you you fucking fuckity fuck fuck head... Bump4life
OP go with Sundown SA 8 v2 or a DD 1508/2508. which ever you prefer. as you can see here on SMD the house is divided when it comes to the "best" 8 inch sub that sounds good and loud. no one ever wins this battle. ahah.
