He said it pops when he accelerates or takes quick turns....both actions will cause things to move in ways they usually wouldn't when the car is at a stop. Check the connections on the amp for anything loose that has enough play to make contact with a ground. Check up by the battery too

After that check for pinches that might have punched through the jacket and possibly shorting.
