wow is this a joke ? i guess the dd-1 does have one flaw. if you can call it that. the user/buyer has to be educated enough to understand how it functions.

thats the thing, its so easy its bringing in noobs and showing them the proper way to gain match for the first time ever (for most noobs). The problem is, if you don't have any experience setting gains with an O-scope, you might miss out on the concept of what you are doing. Guys who use O-scopes appreciate the tool because they already have graduated to knowing what they are doing and now what they are doing is much easier, quicker, and more accurate. But the noobs sometimes don't quite get the concept.

Sorry to say but some of his points were legit. Yeah his deck is ass, but most of the stuff he said was true.

most of the stuff he said was true? i will add you to the list of people who don't know what they are talking about. That guy is a fucking tard. The reason we use 40hz and 1000hz is because we are testing the amp (or deck) while referencing the source (the track). It has NOTHING to do with burping @ 40hz at all. Its two reference points, the same ones that have been taught for years when used on an O-scope.

I didn't say he wasn't an idiot. He said something along the lines of "every track is different" which is 100% true. The DD-1 does a great job of detecting distortion, I'm not saying that it doesn't, but in my opinion there is no way to set a gain and ignore everything else. You will still have to monitor your system and know it's limits.

Too often I see people (not you in particular) say "set it with a DD-1! It'll never clip!" and that just isn't the case.

the entire purpose of the DD-1 is to match your gain input to the maximum non distorted output of the deck. It has nothing to do with what frequency we are using. 40hz is used for BASS amps, 1000hz for anything that isn't a bass amp. It uses the tracks on the cd as a reference. The tracks are JUST A REFERENCE. If set properly, like shown in the book, you should have very little, to no distortion in your system as long as you stay within the clean operating limits of the deck. (whatever your "number" is).

thats why what that guy said is horse shit. He just doesn't get what he is doing with the tool. Saying the DD-1 is "only for "burping" is the dumbest thing i heard all week. The proof is right on the front of the unit.....you know that thing that says 1000hz. LOL. Unless he thinks people are burping at 1000hz and i don't wanna be anywhere NEAR that comp lmao!
