New Battery Technology, help an old guy out.

OK... so when I got out of car audio Optima red and yellow tops were 1st hitting the scene.

Ok, i got it back then. Sealed battery... deep cycle...ok.

But now a days there seems to be several different mfg. of batteries.

Is it all still the same though as far as what they do? Deep cycle capable, higher CCA and reserve times etc? It's just who's brand do you want to use or is it something else.

I ran Intersate MegaTron Pluses... are they still worth it?

Optimas are still good batteries in my opinion...

As far as batteries go I personally like Batcap because i have used them and they work well

Other batteries that are nice are XS, NSB,DEKA are the main ones i have heard of and researched....

Kinetik used to be nice but i guess they fell off

from what ive seen as this is my opinion. depending on where you put the batts at depends on running a wetcell or a drycell batt. ive ran yellow and redtop batteries and never had an issue. and alot of people here have varying opinions on what batt is best to run depending on the power you wanna run.

I'm in the market for a pair of batteries, so I have been doing my research. I always start on Amazon as I am a prime member, and the brands I looked at were kinetic, XS power, and odyssey.

As these are all AGM batteries, which are Absorbed Glass Mats. I found this site explained it well http://www.windsun.com/Batteries/Battery_FAQ.htm#AGM, or Absorbed Glass Mat Batteries

In my research, I found that Kinetic apparently had some quality issues as of late, just from internet opinions. XS power are nice, and people seem to rave about the Odyssey batteries a bit more. As I hadn't seen much about Odyssey batteries, I did some research on those.

They are made by a company called Enersys, who also make stinger batteries and a few other brands. It also appears they make the DieHard Platinum range at Sears, which are rebranded Odyssey batteries as confirmed by Kaylan Jana who works for Enersys as posted on another forum.

As it stands right now, with the awesome warranty, and convenience of Sears, I'll be doing the diehard platinum range. The price is also very nice.

I have an Interstate Megatron Plus Battery in my Explorer, and I love it. it has been very dependable, even when I forget that the truck is off, and turn up the volume on a good song. Maybe the onlt down side is the weight, but other then that It works great. I have had no other expirences with other brands of batteries, I have had Interstate in my Explorer, a Walmart Battery in my Caravan, and a beast of a Landrover battery in my Ranger, which was massive, but also worked great.

I go with Kinetik, just cause at the time I needed a new batt and that's all they had besides crap ones. If I could pick based on what I know now, I'd go with the XS. Sure they cost more but haven't honestly heard one complaint, except the price.
