Impedance Rise

ya, however you are thinking it works, is wrong. but that's ok. you really dont need to worry about it yet. just wire to what your amp is stable with and have fun.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.

ahh, i thought the general consensus here was that it did double. Now that i read all this again it is only him saying that.

Yeah it was only my novice car audio mind at work lol. I had read about impedance rise somewhere on the forum and didn't fully comprehend all of it I guess :noob: Question though, would wiring a D1 sub down to .5 ohm hass less of a impedance rise than wiring it to 2 ohm?

1200 will be fine, people watch too much YouTube and think every sub needs 4556)88(544888.9977 jigga watts to be cool.

Actually it was something on this forum that I saw that said the HDC3 15's were taking more power (1700 wattsish) to actually get them moving well because of their stiff suspension.

Thanks for all the input guys

1200 to 1700 ish isnt much of a difference, even more so once you realize that's rms, before rise. Its rms is 1000, and will be fine on that. Can even take more power, if you're going to be staying at 1200 watts, maybe get the sd2.5and save a couple dollars.

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

Rise is all dependent on the sub and enclosure, most of the time not always it is 3x the wired nominal so if wired at 1 ohm you can expect rise to 3 ohm.

Ok, bit confused on your wording.

What's your opinion on the best option for 1200w @ min 2 ohm. HDC3 15, SDC2.5 15, or (2) SDC2.5 12. I already have the amplifier and have been trying to figure out the best bang for the buck. I have even looked at other brands besides AQ aswell, so I am open to other options aswell. So many choices just not sure on what to choose. I like the lows aswell so that's what I was trying to get in this next build.

Well, the SDs only come in D4 if I recall correctly, so two wouldn't bring you to a 2 ohm nominal. If you want suggestions, give space, vehicle, and budget. Also, what amp are you using?

It is statements like this that just cause more confusion on what "impedance rise" actually is and what it means to people building everyday music systems. . .

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.

amp: Eclipse ZA1200 1200w @ 2ohm & 1000w @ 4ohm

space: MAX dimensions for box 15H(16 squeezing) x 30D x 36W.

car: Dodge stratus ES sedan 2.7L

around 300$ for subs.
