This is some fucked up shit and always has been but think about this, if we did a one year 10% extra tax on the top 6.6% (people over $100,000) income earning people (13,970,000), that is $10,000 * 13970000 people = $139,700,000,000.

That is a whole lot of money we could put back into the system. And mind you that is a minimum because that is people OVER 100,000 per year not AT 100,000 per year, and the same goes for the next figure.

Plus for people who make over 1 million we could do a one year extra 20% of which there are 321,294 people (IRS 2008 figure) so if you did the math $200,000 * 321,294 = $64,258,800,000 minimum

So all in all we are talking about a minimum of an extra $203,258,800,000 coming back into the government and we would on be affecting roughly 7% of the population. But again the last figure is OVER 1 million not AT 1 million, because Bill Gates alone (this is a rough estimate) makes approximately $2 billion per year and 20% of that added to our figure is $203,958,800,000 + $2 billion * .2 = 204,358,800,000. Gates alone is an extra $400 million!

Tax the rich one time and boom our govt has a bunch extra they didnt have before.

So your saying we should make the rich pay more?? Why because they are rich and dont desrve it? thats absolutely INSANE... The rich became rich because they earned it!!! Worked or became educated to do well an earn a great income. So basically your saying the poor can stay poor and continue to eat and live for free and let the rich pay.. plain and simple............increase the workforce. increases the tax base which inturns we should as a whole pay less taxes. plain and simple. so Romney all day long. Obamas idea of more jobs to help the economy is more teachers. ummmm last time i checked its our taxes that pay the teachers. so how does that help the economy.

My taxable INCOME is around 8%. I am not on welfare, I get no assistance, I have a mortgage (with no other debt) and I am the sole earner in my home (wife is a stay at home mom). I make just enough to not be able to get any government assistance- if that tells you guys anything.

Quit watching stupid obama commericals. The 14% the libs are trying to make you mad about is the capital gains tax on his investments. EVERYONE who invests pays a lower tax on their dividends. Not sure if you were going there... but what I take from it and what I believe... Standard tax across the board. Therefore these types of talk? Can't exist. I mean I'm sick of those damn commercials that "Romney only paid this much tax BUT he gave so much to charity" What's your point? If he paid 1% in taxes and gave enough to make up for 15% in taxes, he still only paid 1%. You don't see people paying 22% and giving another 2-3% and saying they pay 25%. He paid 13.5% or whatever... end of story. If he paid 22%, would he have given the exact same amount to charity? Probably not because then he'd have to "suffer". So some of the charity money would've gone to taxes.

But I do think if we taxed everyone a certain amount... whatever that amount is... some would hate it and others would love it. May be like 5% of the population who would like it. But... all in all? It's fair. I know video games are no real life thing but there are games where you tax the population. You tax them EVENLY. If you have your taxes set to 15%, everyone pays 15%. It's not 100k or less pays 20%, 100-400 pays 18%, etc. If I make $20,000 a year, why should I be paying a different tax bracket than if I made $200 million a year? I would want 15% or whatever to be for both salaries. Is 15% of 200 million more than 15% of 20k? Of course, and hell... it's even more than 20k total. But, makes no sense to me why you make more so you can keep more.

Perfect example of what's wrong with the country. We can't even agree in this thread on how people should be taxed. The concepts are completely opposite and there is no real compromise without everyone feeling like they lost.

This is why Divide and conquer works so well. A divided nation cannot agree or mobilize real "Change"
