bighossf150 Posted July 26, 2015 Author Report Share Posted July 26, 2015 So heres how heat wave went for me Demoed for a good while, my voltage tanked and threw 3 amps into protect, usually if I restart the truck the amps will come right out and I can keep demoing. Not this time, they stayed in protect. I said fuck it and walked around the show to give the amps a chance to cool off, checked them again after 30min and they are back, sweet, more demoing. My voltage meter said 12.1 no matter if the truck was running or not, awesome now my volt meter went out. Grabbed my dmm and checked the voltage at the amp, 16.5v, day keeps getting better, Im thinking the alt is fucked and charging at 16+ on my 12v system, I disconnect the alt and start to head home, 250+miles away on battery power only, as Im leaving Jeff flags me down and I tell him about the alt, he grabs his dmm and checks it, 12.1v, my voltage meter is right but my dmm is a pos. I hook the alt back up and still 12.1v, so my alt is shot. I have a 5hr drive with no alt and my batts at 12.1v, make it to Houston at 11.8v and hit horrible traffic, 105* and I-10 is shut down. Best show ever, I drop the ac to the lowest setting to try to save some voltage to make it home. Finally make it out after over an hr in traffic, get home with my batts at 11.6v and a dead alt. Alt will be coming out next week and going to singer to get it back working.
