focused313 Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 I'm getting rid of my Pioneer P4000DVD which has served me well for the two or three years I've had it. I paid $300 for it and besides one of the pico fuses blowing out, it was pretty darn good. But now, it's time to replace it. Tablet: Acer A100 (w/ ICS) EQ: Clarion ESQ746 Volume Control Knob: Pac Audio Lc-1 OBDII Reader: Excelvan ELM327 v1.5 Bluetooth Mini Switch Panel: The former bass knob, will now become the tablet volume control. The tablet will output to the LC-1, then the LC-1 wil go to the input on the EQ. The first switch will continue it's function as the on/off for the bass amp. The second switch will be the power for the charger for the tablet (hopefully I'll automate it at some point). The third switch doesn't have a function just yet, but I'm sure it will as I continue with the build. Pre-existing: 2 Apline Type R Subs HIfonics 2008D on subs Hifonics TXI6006 on front components (rear speakers not amped) Ground loop isolator Turn-on delay (for thump) Deka 9a31 battery (will definitely need two batteries now) As for mounting the tablet, thanks to some advice from a co-worker, I've finally came up with something, but I'll just update it as I do it. vid above on photobucket *all wires have been cleaned up (except the RCA's) as I haven't finished with them yet. Hopefully, I'll be getting the case that I'll be mounting in the dash area tomorrow. Everything (the ash tray, the shifter bezel, etc...) will be sanded and repainted after everything is in place and working correctly. Learning Everyday. I guess the screen size is dependent upon how big your dash is. I've definitely seen people on the net with 10" tablets in a magnum. Hows the quality through the aux cable? EDIT: Doesn't the EQ have a main volume knob also? As far as my ear, the quality is pretty good. It's as least as good as my previous setup, if not better because of the EQ. Yes, the EQ has a knob, but the EQ is under the arm rest. Not to mention, that knob is small and hard to manipulate. I've read about the bluetooth option, but the limited research that I've done has yet to yield a reasonably priced bluetooth receiver that will auto connect with my tablet. This is exactly how I do it. Since I'm keeping my tab removable, all I gotta do is have my BT on and it automatically syncs up with the HU and starts playing as soon as I pick a song. And it's all hooked up to the EQ so I can use that as my main volume knob. To my ear, I can tell little to no loss of quality on bluetooth. Auxiliary cable I can tell though. Tuned in for how this turns out man. Looking like some good progress so far! focused313 Posted September 29, 2012 Author Report Posted September 29, 2012 I've seen plenty of folks relocate their head units and still use those, but I was about done with my p4000. A pico fuse had blown and it's just old....but it certainly got the job done. I don't know if it would auto connect or not, but since I'm taking it out completely, I need another solution. Today I got my leather case in, which holds in the tablet at the four corners (more like a case). I'll be mounting that case to a piece of wood or other material covered in suede or some other material, cut to the void left in the bezel. Then I plan on making some sort of bezel to sit just over the side of the tablet. Unfortunately, I'm working 14 hours days until Wednesday, so I won't be able to work on it until then.
