ChevyBoy95 Posted October 2, 2012 Report Posted October 2, 2012 those 3in coils dont like more than about 3k thermally, i see issues in your future.... Agreed. And not because of my bias. me either, being that i have used every 3in coil DC woofer in the m1 line round wire and flatwire. the flatwound 8 layer coils (3in) start to get hot quick at 3500rms, and i mean HOT if you really dont pay attention. as long as he has the suspension under control (i think 6 spiders will do), all he needs to really worry about is thermal capacity, and 7k is going to push it. OP, dont be surprised if you have a BBQ mid song at some point. ChevyBoy95 Posted October 2, 2012 Report Posted October 2, 2012 Thanks for the help when I build the box should I go less than 16sqinches of port per cube for cone control?I want the box tuning at 32hz. My xl18 lasted 5 months on the bc5500. Box was 5.30 cubes and port was 92 sq inches tuned at 36 did a 149.5 on music. not trying to be a nay sayer, but that XL was not seeing 5500rms. and what you did in 1 box doesnt translate into a completely different box since tuning, airflow/cooling, etc. will all change. The small gain that you will see with more power than that will be so small that it isnt worth it. Quote
reg93f150 Posted October 3, 2012 Report Posted October 3, 2012 yeah kids, i wouldent argue with people that know what they're actually doing.. expecially someone who is a seller of the items and helps build and design boxes for the subs.. Quote ALL CREDIT TO XX1 FOR DC BANNER down rpping vanderbilt. 30 miles from victoria. i own the 3rd loudest setup here out of 3. but i did put together all 3 setups strapping 2 amps together ? like bolting them next together? using bungy cables to hold them down? or wiring separate amps to each sub
juicemane Posted October 3, 2012 Author Report Posted October 3, 2012 I appreciate everything but my bc5500 is staying. Next season I will turn my xls into 4 15s and wall the s10 after i purchase a lvl6 m2 18 for a little fun in a single sub class. I'll just be easy with the knob and keep an eye on the subs like I have been doing. I had the 18xl smoking a couple times at shows giving demos haha. Quote
cmegorm250 Posted October 3, 2012 Report Posted October 3, 2012 you have some balls to put 7k on 2 xls. Quote
