Tim Lam Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 1st sorry if this is considered a vs thread, but i was thinking since it wasn't a comparision of products it would be fine but anways. i currently have 2 AQ hdc3's firing towards the trunk. but i was also thinking about sealing them off from the trunk and firing foward into the cabin. my friend attempted to seal by stuffing pillows into the gaps, and yielded satisfying results. but was also wondering if i just sat them in the back seat in the cabin, would i see better numbers?
TeamHT Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Sealing off from the trunk would be good, a wall would do better (answer also really depends on goal), but if you're just sitting the box on your backseat it will probably sound like ass...not to mention without proper ability to let the soundwaves mature, I have always seen it get louder from the trunk opposed to box on the backseat. Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
Tim Lam Posted October 15, 2012 Author Report Posted October 15, 2012 true, not to mention a much more practical solution. my friend claimed he could feel it more in his chest, so i guess a more physical feel. because right now it flexes everything even up to rippling the hood of my car and hurts your ears, but i want to feel it more in your chest. but also some big numbers.

Tim Lam Posted October 16, 2012 Author Report Posted October 16, 2012 could anyone explain to my why it would sound like crap if i just stuck it in the back seat? because my friend stuck 2 kicker l7's on the backseat of his Ford F150 and it was painfully loud. so what the difference? why does it sound so loud in a pick up truck, but in the cabin in a car it would sound bad?

Tim Lam Posted October 17, 2012 Author Report Posted October 17, 2012 i never said anything about a trunk wall. but what would the difference of cushion matter with the subs in the back seat and trunk be? what i'm trying to say is i will not be putting the subs in the back seat, but i just want to understand why sealing it off from the trunk& firing it foward sounds better than just slapping them in the trunk
diegoclass2010 Posted October 17, 2012 Report Posted October 17, 2012 when you fire the sub woofers forward you seal it from the trunk so that any bass doesnt go back there and just stays in the cabin, hints why there is no trunk rattle
