Captain Stupid
For those that inquired about my box, this is it doing the dime test. It's 1-1/4 MDF reinforced with 12 layers of carbon fiber and epoxy resin in the corners and 4 layers on the flat sides, both inside and outside. The box is glossy and slippery, and the dime doesn't even slide from vibration. I'd say it's solid....... 2006 Cadillac Escalade 2/3 drop on 28" wheels Two RE SX 18" subs RF T2500-1bdCP amp, 3531watts on birthsheet Custom carbon fiber sub box EVERYTHING else is stock, for now 149.4 @ 37hz, Termlab, dash, open window on two AQ3 18s all stock electrical, wired to .25 ohm on a RF T2500 148.8 @ 36hz, Termlab, dash, open window on one AQ3 18 all stock electrical, wired to .5 ohm on a RF T2500 147.8 @ 38hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on two RE SX 18s 146.4 @ 36hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on one RE SX 18 Link to my hack-built, stupid, carbon fiber wasting project.... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/149946-carbon-fiber-box-update-1494db-37hz-on-tl/ http://gifsoup.com/NDM3MTc1MQ

CortezDTV
Honestly, though.. I cant stand ballsackhuggery but ppl are like yea i run x amount of power to my ### named sub, meh his experience is not always going to match yours. When someone has proof regardless of name *cough* steve *cough* that they run 6k to thier woofers for 3 YEARS, Id say thats about as close as safe and reliable as is possible. He makes a very strong case there.. of course its all within reason, obviously your brain and common sense come into play. you could blow any of these woofers on 6k on day 1 I thought i made my comments very clear..... i guess not Maybe no one beleives I ran single 18 for very long time... we'll very very long time Not to insult steve but I don't think I've ever seen a clamped number from his truck..... might even be more than 6k, they are 2 15,000 watt amps..... Ray is also running 5k+ to his mayhems daily for long time..... In my opionon the true problem is when you try to get that little extra, because most systems will be louder with a little bit of clipping..... your not gonna be able to find that out, because with that amout of power you can over heat the coil in a matter of 30 seconds, and when you smell a sub the dammage is done allready...... It can be done tho Audio fanatics ran 2 saz 4500s to a smd no problems ray runs 5k+ to his mAyhems daily and also clips em to shit sometimes and they are fuckin champs My fi n2s take my 750.1 no problem hence why im getting another 750.... I ran a single 18 with dc 5k at. 35 and it handeled it.... My main point is it all depends on how cautious you are And fi can add spiders to raise the fs on the sp4.... imo tho ur comments on the subs efficency and fs are just ignorant! its a 4" coil its hard to be efficent when you have all that weight of the copper..... and I don't see how u can complain about efficency if you are gonna push 6k to a sub........... the fs being to low..... I always looked at that as a good thing SCSB Santa Cruz Speaker Box Build logs: Daily Driver Lemon Marquis 2 american bass 750.1s 350.4 on 14 focal 6.5s sq 945 on 4 hertz tweeters Mystery subs http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 The Mustang 'dubbed' Shirley the project from bullet holes to badass http://www.stevemead...cond-skin-time/
P4killer_
lol didnt read every single post. i was only saying that in general yea ppl do it but it doesnt really matter. your not guaranteed the same results etc generally speaking obvi. so OP is looking rock solid like never recone mode on 6k.. just saying that'll be tough, well and that 3 years is a long time. sorry i read over your years of 6k-age i guess i missed that Setup: 2010 Hyundai Elantra Factory Unit via 4 chan NVX LOC Excessive Amperage "H/O" Alt Xs D3400/ Xs XP3000 Big 3. 2 Runs of +, 2 Runs of - DD M3b and 2 12" AQ HDC4s

I always looked at that as a good thing I understand everything you've said and as far me being ignorant, you may be right. That's why I'm here to learn. Not trying to turn this into a vs thread, but I feel I need to explain myself with an example. The SP4 has a fs around 24hz and an efficiency around 88 SPL. If my box is tuned to 35hz and my vehicle peaks at 36-38hz, then with all other things being equal, why wouldn't I look for a sub with an fs around 35hz and a higher efficiency rating? Will it help? You could argue that it doesn't, but I don't think anyone would argue that seeking those numbers won't hurt me. If a DC level 6 has a fs of around 36 and an efficiency rating of around 91, taking those numbers off the top of my head....then how could it possible hurt me to choose that sub? Both subs have 4" vc, both are beasts, both will play all of the music and tones I need them to play. So, explain to me why I should NOT look at those numbers and buy the sub that fits my application better? Edited to say.... Not trying to be a smart ass dick with the last line there, I know it sounds that way, but seriously asking why I shouldn't seek those numbers. 2006 Cadillac Escalade 2/3 drop on 28" wheels Two RE SX 18" subs RF T2500-1bdCP amp, 3531watts on birthsheet Custom carbon fiber sub box EVERYTHING else is stock, for now 149.4 @ 37hz, Termlab, dash, open window on two AQ3 18s all stock electrical, wired to .25 ohm on a RF T2500 148.8 @ 36hz, Termlab, dash, open window on one AQ3 18 all stock electrical, wired to .5 ohm on a RF T2500 147.8 @ 38hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on two RE SX 18s 146.4 @ 36hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on one RE SX 18 Link to my hack-built, stupid, carbon fiber wasting project.... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/149946-carbon-fiber-box-update-1494db-37hz-on-tl/ http://gifsoup.com/NDM3MTc1MQ

SlamminBeats
DD's website doesn't give much for straight answers on the specs of the Z. Does anyone know where their true specs can be found? Heard they are good for 10,000+, but would be nice to see that and other spec in print online somewhere. the Z doesnt have a rating jk but i think you'll be fine to throw 6k daily at it. I think you got a little confused. It's not chickens truck, that's the one with the T15k's. Steves tahoe has 2 2500bdcps per 18. I'll be tuned for the build though OP if you decide on it. Sounds nasty. i shook this one kids hand and it just folded in mine. long story short i fucked his girlfriendso.. yeah.. You want this to happen to you? Give decent handshakes people.
