I do vehicle inspections here at my Dealership.. Im sorry but if your tint is to dark I wont pass it. Now if your tint is like 20% ( passable is 25% ) I'll let it slide. But 5% is a no can do for me. Yeah I get bribed daily to just let it go and Im sure alot of people think I'm a dick because of it. IDGAF because for letting your little $14.50 inspection pass I could be fined $10,000 personaly in addition to $10,000 to the shop itself. dereileak Posted October 24, 2012 Report Share Posted October 24, 2012 I got a prescription for mine, so I can get down to 20%, I have 25% on my fronts, and 15% on the rear windows and the back window, none on the front windshield. I havn't even had the cops bother me at all since getting it and its been around 9 months, so it really depends where you live whether the cops care or not. if you read the law a prescription allows you to tint the whole vehicle, including the windshield in Minnesota, although most people would say you can't tint the windshield, but I read through the laws. Subd. 4.Glazing material; prohibitions and exceptions. (a) No person shall drive or operate any motor vehicle required to be registered in the state of Minnesota upon any street or highway under the following conditions: (1) when the windshield is composed of, covered by, or treated with any material which has the effect of making the windshield more reflective or in any other way reducing light transmittance through the windshield; (2) when any window on the vehicle is composed of, covered by, or treated with any material that has a highly reflective or mirrored appearance; (3) when any side window or rear window is composed of or treated with any material so as to obstruct or substantially reduce the driver's clear view through the window or has a light transmittance of less than 50 percent plus or minus three percent in the visible light range or a luminous reflectance of more than 20 percent plus or minus three percent; or (4) when any material has been applied after August 1, 1985, to any motor vehicle window without an accompanying permanent marking which indicates the percent of transmittance and the percent of reflectance afforded by the material. The marking must be in a manner so as not to obscure vision and be readable when installed on the vehicle. Would you say that the shootings have gotten worse over the past few years or better? Personally i would say they have gotten worse... Im not going to say that is 100% blamed on people with tinted windows because I know plenty of cops get blasted just walking up to the car whether they approach a clear glass or tinted vehicle... In all honesty if I truly wanted to I could go to my local CLEO (Chief Law Enforcement Officer) and have him issue me a pass for dark tint due to the safety nature of the 2 lines of work I currently take part in... Frankly, Society is going to crap and that is the issue. Over the years I have "grown up" I don't ever recall the horrific instances of crime that I hear about today. Things like bath salts causing people to become canibals and eating victims flesh while alive. The instance just reported today about the cop that wanted to cook and eat women, etc. etc. This world is screwed up badly.. Something like reefer madness. Yeah it messes people up but I don't think all these "cannibal" cases are directly from bath salts. Weird fucks have been eating other people forever. But now all cases of it happening are all blamed on one thing, the bath salts.
