Buy any MechMan alternator at normal retail price from now until December 25th, 2012, and you will feed a struggling Ethiopian family for one month. There's no catch, it's that easy. For every alternator sold from now until Christmas, Mechman will be donating the funds required to provide nourishing food and clean water to an entire household in the village of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This effort is in partnership with Bethany Christian Services, a hands on grass-roots missionary relief organization that will be on the ground, distributing meals and supplies to sponsored families. Our goal is to provide food for one year for the entire village. We will update our website and Facebook page with pictures and info about each individual family who gets sponsored as the month progresses. These are real people who struggle for the most basic of life's necessities, and we can so easily change their lives for the better. With how blessed our nation is, it would be selfish to not pay some back to people in troubled nations who work as hard as they possible can, and still barely survive. There are countless others that desperately need help to survive.... This family is at extreme risk. Worknesh, the mother, Abdulmalek, and his sister, Sosina, were homeless, but have been given temporary housing by a kind Christian man. Abdulmalek’s vision impairment leaves him dependent upon his mother. She is unable to find other work because his care is an all day job. Abdulmalek is nearly five years old and he has been visually impaired for about one year after a surgical error. His father passed away before he was two years old. Now his mother struggles to raise him and his 13 year old sister on her own with no income. If you wish to voluntarily donate to this cause, a simple $30 donation is all that is required to provide relief to one family for an ENTIRE MONTH. For each additional alternator we sell, we will continue to add another month of sponsorship to this family, until they are covered for a year, at which point we will move on to another family in Addis Ababa. I can tell you from personal experience that Addis is one of the nicer places in Ethiopia and it is still [emotionally] difficult to walk through there. Clean water is probably one of the most precious things around. actually finding anything that is what an American would generally consider sanitary is difficult to find. To put the economy into perspective for people the $30 that gets donated is roughly 535 birr. Week in a nice hotel,meals,drinks,cigarettes,and water i spen 1500 birr. (beer was 16 birr which is about $.85 gotta love that) Your $30 really goes a long way, especially if it is going to a hard working family. Absolutely. In fact, if you want to donate $30 now, we will forward it on to our folks on the ground, and will discount your alternator $30 when you finally get around to buying it. Our goal here is to help as many families as possible, not just one. We are going to sponsor for a full 12 months, before we take on a new family, and will repeat that process until Christmas.
