Fuse a alternator wire ???

240amp alt do I use a fuse or connect it right onto the battery without a fuse?

i always fuse. its the way it comes from the factory. so i have just always mimicked that factor. like said before cheap insurance.

i fused mine.. dont want that wire coming loose or burn out and ground itself and damage batteries and alternator.. like stated not needed but its cheap insurance

Does adding a fuse add more resistance to the wire or wouldn't do much?

the fuse adds some resistance, and so do the terminals needed to add a fuse. neither of those are more important than keeping your car from burning to the ground.

Great thanks for replying people, will be using a fuse just to be on the safe side.

I'm running a 240amp alt, so a 300amp fuse be sweet, as the it does abit more than what it's rated.
