What Should My 18in Re Mt Be Tuned At?

Recommended Posts

im kinda new to ported boxs, ive built a few for some 12in subs and they sound good but now im building a new box for my 18in RE MT. could someone give me some help about what to tune it at..what freq of hz is really good for SPL and whats good for SQ?. i want my box to be a serious SPL box but it is in my daily driving truck.. so what would be a good number to tune it at? thanks

its a 2000 chevy and its gonna be a cut through so the box is in the cab and the sub and the port r in the cab if that helps...

for spl tune high like around 40-45hz. for a more sq system you picked a bad sub lol, around 32hz has a better roll off and should sound nicer. there are alot of things that will change this though, box size, port size. id go to re and make the recommended box for it if possible.

seen mts in boxes from 35-45 and 45 was the loudest. If you listen to rock or techno then id say tune lower but if your mainly into rap 40-45 is best

theres no such thing as too expensive when it comes to upgrades like that, because imo if you are gonna spend to upgrade then do it correctly rather then be a cheap ass ricer

youve got it completely backwards. :excl:

If you listen to mostly rap, tune it lower (33-38).

If you listen to mostly rock and techno, tune it higher (40-45)
