US Army bans Magpul PMags and other "HP" mags

Sorry to rant but I can't believe they're doing this when these are the standard issue to a high percentage of SOF and some infantry units.

Sorry to piss and moan about the shit but when I've used both GI and Magpul's magazines and trusted my "unauthorized" gear more than issued in country and gave them to my guys before they pumped out to Trashcanistan again before I PCS'd. I don't understand why you wouldn't want your forces to use "high performance" magazines even if they spent thier own hard earned cash. As a grunt it really gets to me cause I know my feelings are shared with thousands of other service members that have expireienced a stoppage because of a standard issue mag in training, qualification or combat and made the switch to a "high performance" mag and had a fraction (if any) issues with them.

My P Mags have never been any trouble, function fantastic. I have a few GI mags too... dont like em. The followers suck.

No idea why they are but only reason I can think of... uniform. They don't want people to be different. They want everyone to use the same stuff. Just my thoughts. No matter what though, it definitely sucks. That's for sure.

That sucks bro. They have their heads up their ass.. Do you have to use standard GI mags or can you run upgraded followers in them?

i dont thing that has anything to do with it.. if it was then they would ban every rifle and would be only M16 just to make everyone match the same

edit.. this says it all "The Army has ordered that soldiers may use only government-issued magazines with their M4 carbines"

looks more like they want to make money of the soldiers.

I've recently messed with the new mags they issued and they're nicer than the older generations but they still don't have the heavy duty feel as the PMags or even the HK mags and the follower is still not as robust as on the other banned ones. I'll see if I can get some gut pics of one, I'll dig through my "random misfit gear bag"
