NOOBIEST thing you have done with car audio stuff

1. bought a 10inch tv and dvd player + power inverter, velcro'd tv 2 dash

2 make it worse i sold the setup 2 someone and installed it in their car

they told me they was drivin and sparks was flyin everywhere

2. ran power wire on door hinges instead of threw the firewall

3. used a screw on a trunk lid 4 a ground

4. daisy chained the positive on 3 amps having the run from under the hood go 2 the most powerful amp 1st

5. used the plastic twist screw that holds the carpet down in a trunk, + 2 steel washers, as a ground

6. countless hours thinking amps were blown or just confused with the problem when it was the remote

just a couple i could think of but i know theres more....

these were long ago but #6 still happens

First amp, somehow accidentally switched up the pos and neg power wires. Blew the fuses. Luckily it was fine after I got new fuses.

I don't even wanna post this stuff because its horrible. I had a Polk 10 prefab sealed running off a Kenwood 2 channel which is now my temporary mids and highs amp now lol. Then I bought matching Polk 12's from a local pawn shop they were in a prefab sealed box too. Well they were both rigged one worked the other didn't so I used speaker wire for the lead and it burnt the cone and quit playing so I had a sub and a passive radiator lol... But it gets worse. I then decided that without one sub in the box it was ported and that I though it was louder. Then finally I built a box for a pioneer 10 with only caulk and 3 screws because my drill died. When I put it on the crescendo Bc2000 it broke apart at 4 ohms which is like 500watt RMS I think lol.

Oh and one more I fused the remote on a fuse in the interior fuse box and when my buddy and I where making jumpers for my voltage guage and it started my car... I instantly ripped out the head unit and wired it to the head unit remote haha

Assumed that once you tuned with the DD1 you could play any song you wanted up to the distortion point found by the DD1. Sub got a bit stinky one day. I noticed it didn't sound very clean. Well I didn't know that songs themselves could have clipping in them. I looked at the basslines and they were clipped to hell. Needless to say those songs were instantly taken off my playlist. Now I listen for distortion more when bumpin.

Was doing an install for a buddy and let the power cable arc right next to his leg. a large yellow puddle appeared beneath him. The lulz ensued for the next few days.

My first amp was underpowering my subs so I put the bass boost on 3/4.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only one that's done this but I picked up a 15 inch titanium eclipse sub with a wayyyyy too small box (and sealed at that) at a pawn shop. I think I payed like 35 altogether. so anyways I didn't know about svc and dvc subs and I proceeded to hook it up to an OLD 150w x2 jensen to the leads coming out in the terminal cup. It was alright but I felt it wasn't nearly enough bump so then I open up the box and I see its FILLED with polyfill and the sub has 4 inputs. I take out the polyfill and I hook BOTH positives AND negatives to their spots.

I go to turn it on and it fucking wrecked for like three and a half seconds.. turned out that caused the glue holding the fucking motor on just melted EVERYWHERE. All over the back of the sub, in the box underneath the sub. I was mad as fuck because this happened within an hour of buying it. Man, I had no clue what I really had back then.

I thought distorion meant it was so loud my ears couldn't process the sound and that's why it sounded like shit

..... And 3 years ago I used gain and bass boost knobs to get louder........ Not sure how I didn't blow my subs....Hifonics FTW.?

When I installed my system in my new car, was in hurry to get bass back and went to bump and could not figure out what was wrong, well when I looked back I never even hooked the amp up:( lol

No i think it would be 0.5 ohm. What amp was it. If it was a rockford it would of made it.
