Active ALC 20 all day. I have run both, for SQ I spend the extra and run active. For loud I am cool with a good quality passive.

What do you mean about ALC 20? the ambiographic control?

ALC 20 was made by Altec Lansing (old school). I always thought it was one of the coolest active crossovers.

What about Active vs Bi-amp on passive crossovers?

Passive sets the crossover points and uses a small portion of the power and doesn't allow separate adjustment of the tweeter and mid range, unless the crossover has bi-amp inputs.

Active allows you to set crossover points and separate adjustments of tweeter and mid range. There is no power loss due to crossovers in an active setup either.

Which will be louder?

ummm nooo was saying if i go active and use all my channel on the sundown and

channel 1 tweeter

2 tweeter

3 mid

4 mid

going passive and using both crossovers

where as channel 1/2 are bridged using mid and tweeter

3/4 bridged mid and tweeter

do you understand now?

My dash (mainly used for stage and image) is a 5.25" component set with passive crossovers ... The midrange and tweeter is close enough to each other that you do not have to separately time align for stage and image and is cut off on the low end by the head unit.

My 6.5" midbass drivers are basically fullrange cut off on the low end by the head unit (time aligned separately from the dash component set) ...

All of this is separately EQ'd ... So I guess you could say I run both, then again, if you break it down ... I run passive and fullrange ... kind of confusing, but honnestly, a simple setup
