Real96SS
Okay so now your going to run fuses but you want to know what would make them blow? Well I just read this from the beginning and its been said several times as to what can cause this to happen. Of course there are other ways to blow fuses. As for Knu fuses being crap I will beg to differ on that one. I have been running their 300amps for a year on my DC 9K and haven't had one blow or cause a problem. Truconcept
Only time I didn't fuse was when my 7.5k was only 6" away from my batteries, trying to get all I could from it. Oh, and my alt to batt 1/0 is not fused, but if that somehow shorts, i've been in a pretty bad wreck already LOL. Always fuse front to back runs at both ends. And now that im not going for numbers, all amps are fused at the battery and the amp, even though the amps have onboard fusing. the alt to batt 1/0 gauge is a place where 1 of the 8 fuses would go im going 2 be running a lower end 220amp alternator so i want 2 make sure i protect my new amps even tho they all have built in fuses what size fuse should i be using with this alternator to batt? and what size fuse should i be using for front battery 2 back batteries? i know which size 2 get for the amps **actin bad like a kid at six flags**

So if the wire is rated for 300A fuse for 300A. I believe they were talking about the fuse holder. Not the fuse itself. AMI CUSTOMS
I don't have fuses on all 4 of my 4k amps, 16 1/0 gauge runs to my battery bank all of them are around 6-8 ft long, no fuse, it is my truck fuck it! But I am also a little smarter with my equipment then most, sure my truck could get into a wreck and burst into flames, I would walk away upset but not anything I could do about it anyway. AMI CUSTOMS
Also I know plenty of competitors that don't run fuses so.... What does that mean? But I do have my main battery fused and my alts heavily fused. Just my sub amps no fuses. SnowDrifter
Always wondered this... Do you even need to fuse the power wire going to your amp if there's no risk of it rubbing through the insulation anywhere? The fuse won't stop it from blowing if there's an issue, so what's the point? ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

If they are fused and connected directly to a battery or battery bank and something happens to either, then in theory, the fuse should blow, protecting your amps from seeing a surge or anything...in theory keeping your amps safe...in theory. lol Blown

The fuse won't stop it from blowing if there's an issue, so what's the point? u guys better be careful, theres some angry members out there who will flame u for asking these kinds of questions im just shocked 2 read the black nasty is not properly fused if ive read right, shorts can happen randomly even when the car is off, starting a fire so if im running 4 amps and the battery bank is right next 2 them.... fusing is a waste of cash? because the amps have built in fuses and theyre less than 18inches away? it would make my day if snafu would chime in here not about using fuses or not but these other questions questions like: what exactly happens in a battery that causes the voltage spike 2 fry these fuseless wires? (does the negative side fail or something?) why dont people fuse their big 3 upgrades? (like the alt to batt +) if my fuse blows, wouldnt the 18" of wire catch fire? (if this happens in the trunk or under the hood im fucked) can clipping an amp cause an internal failure that pulls extreme power from the batt? if these questions or my posts make u angry its simple, dont post here (u dont have 2) **actin bad like a kid at six flags**
