cloud77 Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 REaudio.com and go the box calculator. This will calculate cut sheets and volume of an L ported box. This is a good start if its your first time building. I would go 3.5-4 cubic ft. sub up port up or sub front port front. 2004 Grand Prix GT (2) 12" RE XXXs (04/05 XBL^2) 5 cu. ft tuned @ 35 Hz MMATS HD4000.05 MMATS SQ4100 Infinity Kappa components Juice Box black cherry Duralast platinum group 34 1/0 KNU OFC, 2/0 welding Singer 250A
Guest Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 you're expecting free box designs and you want it fast? you must be joking. the re box calc has been proven inaccurate. the Torres one on here is much better.
teamace24 Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 Talk to joe x the specs for your box are already given. Anywhere from 3.5 cubes net and up will work with a tuning around 33-36hz. Dont give it too much port area as i found from going from 16 inches per port to 12-14 it sounded a bit better sq wise. kidd666 Posted January 30, 2013 Author Report Posted January 30, 2013 I was thinking about running it at 1 ohm on 1500 watts or do u think that would be too much?
DylanBunch Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 My friend has his on 1400 with gains 3/4 and stock electrical. He smelled it for the first week or so cause he had been running it on 900 for the longest time and its still going on 1400, never smell It anymore. kidd666 Posted January 31, 2013 Author Report Posted January 31, 2013 ok so ive been thinking about it all day and im wondering what would be a good tuning frq for the box. i listen to all different kinds of music and i like the lows but i dont want to miss out on the higher notes too much so what should i tune it to?
Smurfboy Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 I was thinking about running it at 1 ohm on 1500 watts or do u think that would be too much? According to Kicker manual, it appears that S15L7 only 'sees' ~750 watts in any vented box. Personal, I'd just watch the gain control if the amp you have has 1,500 watts or more on it. Use common sense and do not intentionally abuse the subwoofer. As long as everything is under control, I'm sure you'll be happy with it. I've ran a pair of S12L7 and a pair of S10L7 at other time and I loved it. Not a single problem.
john253a Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 if you know how to kerf, i can change the port to suit
