The quoted response from Db-r seems logical. Obviously if someone was mis using any equiptment and it fails repeatedly, he can't keep fixing it for free.

However...in my situation, my amp had a intermitent (sp?) turn-on or power-up problem. It had this problem before I had access to a dd-1, after it was dd-1'd, and before I sent it to db-r. $150 later, I was told there was something loose on the board and he soldered some wires underneath it. He also changed some caps that are known to fail but they hadn't yet. .Before I got the amp back from him is when I was told not to use the dd-1 on it or it would void his warranty.

The amp came back doing the same thing it did when I sent it in. Granted, the problem is intermitent, and the amp will turn on fine and operate fine, sometimes. So I understand the possibility of it not acting up when he had it. When I offered to send it back, and even pay the bench fee again, he said I'd be better off to just sell it. I've put it in other vehicles, its been hooked up to a battery on my kitchen table, and it does it regardless of the "install".

The "buzzing" sound some class d amps make internally when they see clipping (thanks Tony), is the same sound mine makes at turn-on. At the same time sending 110-120 v to the outputs. Even with the rca's unhooked. Power, ground, remote only.

Sorry for the novel, but my issue has nothing to do with gains, clipping, voltage, volume, impedence, the grass being green or the sky being blue, or a dd-1. I know it, he knows it. "pass the buck" comes to mind and I feel taken...

You are being taken.

Get your money back and forward all viable information to Jacob ("sundownz" on the forum here), thats plain dirty.

MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..."

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.

Steve, Tony, all forum members,

I feel I must apologize for the thread on caco. I asked the question and didn't specify that I was looking for technical reasons, I wasn't mad and told him I was just curious. I didn't intend for the thread to turn into mudd slinging. I had just bought 2 sundown amps and a dd-1 and was wanting to know what I shouldn't do to damage my amps is all.

Again I am sorry for the crap my question caused!

you are alright, i didn't even see what you posted. I read a couple of posts and then i got booted out. It said i had to log in. I think i am a member but i lost my log in info. It's ok, i would rather not spend my day arguing on the net after reading some BULLSHIT. Anyway, i dropped some cash money on this amp, not sponsored or anything, i just bought it...so i can prove a point. I was at the shop, it still works fine. It will continue to work fine.

Add it to this SOTM ???

LOL, a WORKING, DD1 tuned Sundown amp.... would be epic..

would be one of a kind seeing how the dd-1 destroys sundown amps. you are forgetting one thing though, just because it was dd1 on his work bench doesnt mean it will put a clean signal out in someone elses car. it would have to be re-dd1 thus meaning once it survives the dd1 2 times it is the strongest sundown amp ever.

Dude,..

I understand how the DD1 works. I own 4 of them. I buy them when people bitch about them....on the cheap...

I was just saying a WORKING, DD1 set sundown amp for this SOTM would be funny, and very cool.......

Maybe include the DD1 with the amp to the winner, so he/she can set it up in their car, and show the world the tool was NOT the issue.

Feel me?

i know exactly what your saying, just making sure any newbies to the dd-1 know. specaily the ones that beleive it destroys amps. still though for evertime the amp is set with a dd-1 and survives it is one more step above the other. to withstand such a force as a tool made to set a gain on an amp safely and still work great would mean it is one strong amp.

I just asked if it was true and why. I really should have outright asked for technical reasons but I didn't know he was such a loose cannon so to speak. I've honestly never encountered a business owner like that, ever. He makes New York taxi drivers look nice! Lol anyway, instead of giving the amp away, I'd like to offer you what you paid for it including the shipping. You've given away enough of your equipment you paid for your self. Since my dumb ass asked the question and uncaged the beast, ill make you hole again.

Let me know and ill get the funds together and PayPal you the money.

Thanks again Steve and all of smd.
