meade916 Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 Just wanted to share a few pics of what i hooked up today. The amp is sitting on a 14v XS power battery at 14.6v ish. Rumor had it that the DD-1 causes damage to a Sundown amp and i am here to say that is complete HOGWASH and just that, a RUMOR. I bought this Sundown amp just to show that it is 100% safe. I will post a new pic every few days showing it playing just fine. I will let it play for an hour or two every day for a week straight if i have to. The DD-1 has been used on the smallest nano-amps to the largest amps on the market juiced up at 18v DC. Every brand including Sundown. It just does NOT cause damage. I used a CC-1 to calibrate the crossover as well. I actually did make a video but the external mic i bought for the GoPro did not record any sound....i messed up an entire day of clips. Remember, if you want your own Distortion Detector - hit up http://www.wccaraudio.com and use SMDDD1 in the coupon code - save $10 bucks! We are out of CC-1's for another 2-3 weeks due to a problem with parts being stuck in customs.... thanks! 4 Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! SnowDrifter Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 Lol. It's amazing how people say the DD-1 hurts it. Honestly: it's no different than an Oscope. Use it improperly and the amp will fry because of clipping. That's not the equipment's fault, that's user error. Kyblack76 Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 Hey Steve, Want to warn you, that I've read from a couple smart people that using that tool on that amp will cause it to blow. You better be careful man! Your welcome. 2 Quote SMD SUPER SELLER The Burban Build Blazer Build sold Acura trunk build sold
meade916 Posted February 6, 2013 Author Report Posted February 6, 2013 oh and not to mention, the Xover says "30 -----300hz" please tell me how you plan on hitting 80hz (or 90 or whatever you use) without a CC-1 I mean there is other ways but i bet 99% of the people just turn it to where they THINK 80 (for example) is. Good luck on that! 3 Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! Over 1,000,000 subscribers strong! ToNasty Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 Why is it they think it ruins Sundown amps? Was there any other brands? Quote ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers

Raptorman Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 What I do to set my X over's is plug a DMM into my terminals and play a 80hz test tone, and keep rolling up the knob until I start to see the signal voltage dip a bit below where it would be normally.
