Just leave the amp hooked up the the 16v setup. If the amp doesn't put out over 15kw when tuning with the dd.1 then you will be ok. You only need the dd.1 hv for when you are running more than 15kw.

Edit: I should also add that when tuning, if the amp is capable of putting out a 15kw clipped signal than you will need a dd.1 hv. i.e. if the amp is capable of putting out a clean 10kw and when tuning it you go past the max undistorted point, it can very quickly reach 15kw. I believe Steve had a video with a dc 9k discussing this a bit.

Yes, Input voltage doesn't matter as long as the output voltage doesnt exceed 125Vrms on the regular DD-1

if you think you are gonna go over 15,000 watts, even peak, i would get the HV version...the red one. Just sayin' :)
