The port has added efficiency with the kerfs so it's no where near as bad as you guys think. It's just not good for any dd woofers or woofers with 60mm of Xmax like sundown mega roll subs. There are plenty of subs that will be perfect for my application especially if I custom build them.

Its 110% not being rebuilt. It's as big as it can be and there is no way I could match robins quality. Plus having to re do my seal off... AGAIN... all my carpeting... AGAIN... all my beauty panels .. AGAIN. I don't have that time or patience at this point in my life to uninstall.... Rebuild everything, attempt to even make it half as nice as it is, and reinstall.

Box stays.

The mission is to find the perfect subs for the box instead of building a box that works with the subs I have.

Like I said, it's already as good as it's getting with my given space and it's as nice as I can make it with in reason... I will not make it any bigger. I won't be able to get my spare tire out, or have trunk room, or have room for my amps of I go much bigger. Rebuilding a bigger box would defeat 2 of the 5 rules I laid out for myself on the very first post of this build log.

Really enjoy my HDD 12's in da trunk. 150@36hz meter on the dash and 149.1@31hz. They have a better "top end" than my zv4's did but still dig plenty low.

Murphy did email me back. He said with my box and port size that I need to give up hope for linear spiders and a X/HD type drivers (long linear throw) that I need to move to strong motors and proper progressive spider packs unless I want to rebuild my box and redo my install.

Just eyeballing, he's right. What were your box specs again?

3.8 tuned to 32 with 11sq in of port

The port could be a little bigger :(

And box for that matter.

Rebuild that bish! Just extend it towards the rear, that way it has the same width and everything will still fit on it.

No spare tire access. I'd have much less room for storage in my trunk. I can't match robins quality with the kerfed center port or paint. Id have to rebuild all my beauty panels.

You would be shocked at how perfect I accidentally made the depth of the box (spare tire access, and how much perfectly fits in the area)

I would if I could reasonably.

Next car I'll put more thought into it.

But with the amount of thought and planning I've out into this build and I'm talking about even more.... Is kinda scary.

Does it have internal kerfs? Those external kerfs don't add as much efficiency as everyone thinks.

Internal port round overs. Official kerfs are only on the front. Back of the port has a double kerfed triangle... And on the port walls themselves there is a 1.5 inch round over. The port wall is only .75 inches thick... But there is a small section of the port wall before the port begins (about 2 inches thick) that makes for a bigger round over at the start of the port.

XLs or Zs would probably be ok in the box size, but then the port is fairly small. Might work for ya though.
