4 Amplifiers More Efficient Than One?

I'm getting a SoundStream XXX 18, rated 10,000 Watts RMS. I don't know if the woofer can truly take that much power, but I guess I'll find out soon enough.

To power my old sub (Fi SP4 18) I used a pair of SoundStream Tarantula TX1.2000d's. Which are rated to do 2000 RMS at 1 Ohm, but only 1300 at 2 Ohms, the XXX Sub has I think quad 1.4 Ohm coils, so by wiring them in series and getting about 2 ohms I won't be getting the most power out of them. So I can either sell the two Tarantula amps and get new amps or add another two Tarantula Amps and have a total of 4 Amps, one per coil, giving the sub roughly 8000 RMS.

The only reason I don't want to get all new amps is because I don't think I can sell the Tarantula Amps for what I bought them for. Would running 4 amps be of any benefit to running one? What suggestions for a single amp setup do you have to run the sub?

i would think the single amp would be more efficient but the 4 amps would help on ohm rise. Since you would be spliting the ohm loads to 4 amps.

The XXX can't handle 8kw daily, 4kw is the most if you want to use it daily.

If you have strong enough electrical, Use two amps, wire two coils down to .7 i believe, per amp. And try that, and see how it works. But make sure your gains are set evenly for both amps. I would do that, before going and buying 4 amps, and see how well it does. Saves time, money, problems.

Where did you hear that? If that's the case then I'm already set I can just wire the sub at .7 and have 2 coils per amp. Definitely would save me some time.

Just use 2 amps, eventhough i wouldn't recommend soundstream amps.

You didn't say how you were going to power those amps..

4 amps IS more efficient than 1. Less rise split between 4, if 1 goes out, you still have 3 more to use.

I think the 2 amps would take .7 a piece but you need proper electrical. And no, the sub won't take 8k daily. But with those amps, I doubt you'd get 8k out of them.

Multiples are an advantage in this regaurd.

That said.... I bought a single monster.... Lol.
