Piggi3 Posted March 11, 2013 Author Report Posted March 11, 2013 I'm thinking if doing a flat wall I have 4 15s in a 3:1 4th order and its not loud enough for me. Running the at .5ohm. On a ab 1100.1 would a wall be better
n8ball2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 in 99.9 percent of all cases a wall is louder than regular box. TRTC360 Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 what are the benefits of a typical 2:1 ratio 4th order? from my understanding is a flatter response, better mechanical power handling because of the sealed side, and loudness of a ported enclosure? On a ab 1100.1 would a wall be better A flat wall would be a ported box... 4th order will be visually a "flat" wall because the subs will be inside the box Typically if you have never built a 4th or u don't have space for a true 3:1 ratio then a flat wall will basically 99.9% of the time be louder like n8 said There are to many options with 4th orders for people to get wrong; for example some common ones u see! Port area too small. The port IMO needs to be big like real big! Typically close to the cone are of the subs Sealed ratio to big or small. Can make the sub move to little or to much Ported side too big or small Etc Etc Just go for a flat wall 4 15s SCSB Santa Cruz Speaker Box Build logs: Daily Driver Lemon Marquis 2 american bass 750.1s 350.4 on 14 focal 6.5s sq 945 on 4 hertz tweeters Mystery subs http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 The Mustang 'dubbed' Shirley the project from bullet holes to badass http://www.stevemead...cond-skin-time/

CortezDTV Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 Last thing the people you see with 6 15s ported have 1 full size trucks 2 a crapload of power 3 tons of electrical 4 15s in the proper airspace will PROBABLY be louder than 6 15s in small boxes! Cuz they will need way over rated power to reach the same efficeny as the the less subs in a slightly larger box, I'm not saying the 6 15s is overall less efficeny, but sub for sub it probably is that's why they have 1 tons of power 2 tons of room 3 tons of electrical I have yet to see a small blazer with 6 15s typically only bigger suvs SCSB Santa Cruz Speaker Box Build logs: Daily Driver Lemon Marquis 2 american bass 750.1s 350.4 on 14 focal 6.5s sq 945 on 4 hertz tweeters Mystery subs http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 The Mustang 'dubbed' Shirley the project from bullet holes to badass http://www.stevemead...cond-skin-time/
Emmet Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 It's worth a shot keeping your subs and amp and just do a flat wall like they were suggesting. Galen had 4 xl's 15s and 9k. You have the next sub line up and more power. i shook this one kids hand and it just folded in mine. long story short i fucked his girlfriendso.. yeah.. You want this to happen to you? tacomaguy1 Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 I plan on doing 4 15's on 2 5500's in my 4 door blazer A lot easier to fit then trying to cram 6 in.....4 18's fits pretty good too in a flat wall if you want to go that route, little less cone area then 6 15s so wont be much of a difference Team Flex Issues
