DEH-80PRS Problem

Recommended Posts

My head unit just randomly shuts off and it takes awhile for it to turn back on. I just re-soldered all connections from the HU harness to the vehicle harness like 2 days ago. But I had this problem before it was soldered also. It will also say sometimes "ATT" with a speaker icon, It will do this at random also.

EDIT: The internal amp is off also on the head unit.

  • 2 weeks later...

i think the problem might be over heating, whenever i turn the heat on the deck shuts off and stays off for however long it takes. my local car audio store back when i was still in CT told me that it might be a voltage issue and that i needed to change out the 3 main wires (battery, Ground, power) with a heavier gauge wire, something called voltage protect. Is this true?

What subs and amps are you running and what gauge wire is being used? I doubt it has anything to do with your headunit cutting out though. When you're playing the music you should see the voltage on the display IIRC, at what voltage does it turn off?

Try running a new ground for it (preferably where you have the amps grounded) along with a new constant 12v run (straight from battery). Make sure to fuse the consant run as well.

subs and amps are skar zvx 15's two of them and 2 of the skar 1500.1ds. 1/0 running to the sub amps the 1500.1ds and 1 run of 0 gauge running to a 1/0 in to a 4 out fuse holder running to my mids & highs amp a JL 360.4. each amp has its own battery.

a ground wire running from the head unit to where the amps are grounded? isnt that a ling run of negitive wire? will i get noise? i'll try it.

What do you have as far as electrical goes? 3000+ watts on stock electrical is really pushing it...

sounds like HU voltage problems causing it to over heat ... The 80 PRS has a function that you can turn the internal amps off, mine ran a little warm and i found that function so i turned the internal amp off and it did better.

(dont know if you are using the internal amp or not or knew if you could turn off)
