bcbrassard Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 I dissagree, there is a reason you find the clipping point of a HU and set your amp gains to that. You dont set your HU on 10/50 and set your gains to that. What your wanting WILL work but its not ideal by any means IMO. Sounds like your 3.5"s are getting a full range signal that they cant handle because they are good for highs/high midrange freqs. Wouldnt you be better off to filter that freq some so you can turn those speakers up without the middrivers distorting? Sounds like you got some $ into your system, you just need to find a better crossover point for those 3.5s. I wasnt trying to be a dick, good luck.

Why don't you figure out your frequency range on the 3.5's and get yourself a Band Pass or a High Pass crossover from PartsExpress for like $12.00 ($6 each) and you'll be set. bcbrassard Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Thanks for the back up guys! i put a pair of T142s in my sons Tahoe located in the dash and had the HPF on a P200-2 running them @ 84 RMS per which was a bit over there rating and they screamed and sounded great so i figured he a lower Freq problem causing distortion.

I'm running a set of those on my components and running active crossovers. Idk I just hate bass from my components. I always get afraid to blow them. Subs ill gain up all day but my comps I get a little weary
